The Winchester and District Beekeepers’ Association (WDBKA) has about 50 members, and exists to promote the craft of beekeeping.
We welcome new and experienced beekeepers from a wide catchment area, including Alresford, Bramdean, Hursley, Itchen Abbas, Owslebury, Ropley, Sparsholt, Twyford, and Winchester.
The association manages two out apiaries suitable for hosting members’ hives; maintains beekeeping and honey extracting equipment for short-term subsidised rent to members; and through its more experienced members the association provides support for those working towards beekeeping exams and accreditation. The Association also has a lending library.
We work closely with DEFRA and their Regional Inspectors in the diagnosis of bee diseases. We publish a monthly newsletter, and distribute County and National news as well as material from DEFRA.
Our membership fees are shown on the current membership application form, and cover a wide range of benefits.
